    Highlights of Janmashtami celebrations with Amma at Amritapuri Ashram

    Amritapuri celebrated Sri Krishna Jayanti with a variety of programs. The day began at 8 a.m. with devotional chanting (Nama Sankirtanam) followed by Go Puja (cow worship). In the afternoon, at 3 p.m., a grand procession took place at the ashram, where many children, including foreigners, dressed up as Krishna and Radha. The evening festivities included traditional games like Uriyadi, cultural programs, bhajans, and at 11:30 p.m., a Balagopala Puja, Bhagavata recitation, and prasadam distribution, all in the divine presence of our beloved Amma.

    In her Sri Krishna Jayanti message, Amma said, “The word kṛṣṇa means ‘one who attracts and gives joy.’ From the moment Kṛṣṇa took birth in Kamsa’s dungeon to the moment he ascended to heaven, all his actions were heart-captivating. His actions uplifted and gave enormous joy to humans. Kṛṣṇa was a purṇāvatāra—a complete and perfect incarnation.

    “His life had the splendor of the peacock feather, the perfect harmony of the songs flowing out of his flute, and the purity of the Tulasi leaf. Kṛṣṇa’s life was a commentary on the Vedāntic principles and an interpretation of the dharma that befitted the age. Interaction with Bhagavān became a yoga—divine union—for everyone.

    “Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s life was a flow. In the grand flow of his life, he did not reject any part or role assigned to him. He fully immersed himself in every role he undertook and played it to perfection. This is why he was able to face every circumstance with a smile.”

    After her program in Boston, Amma arrived in New York for a three-day event held at the Javits Center. Thousands of people enthusiastically attended, eager to experience Amma’s presence.

    Throughout the program, Amma delivered satsangs, sang soul-uplifting bhajans, and led guided meditation and prayers for world peace. Over the course of the three days, she gave darshan to thousands, offering her divine, solace-giving embrace.

    Among the many who received Amma’s blessings were renowned Acharya Dr. Sthaneshwar Timalsina, a religious scholar and associate professor at San Diego State University; Elizabeth Gilbert, the #1 New York Times best-selling author of *Eat, Pray, Love*; and Ben Vereen, an American actor, dancer, and singer, and Tony Award winner. Each of these VIPs spent heartwarming moments in Amma’s presence.

    After three hectic days in New York, Amma headed to Chicago, the final stop of the US Tour 2024.

    Global Spring of Love: Amma’s Yatra 2024 – Highlights from Washington DC, USA – July 25-29

    Amma arrived in Washington DC for her four-day program right after the Guru Purnima celebrations in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The event was held at The National Conference Center, drawing large crowds from in and around Washington, eager to spend time in Amma’s divine presence after nearly five years.

    Each day, people gathered in huge numbers, their excitement and enthusiasm evident on their faces. Amma led meditation sessions, sang soul-enchanting bhajans, and conducted world peace prayers, creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

    Amma distributed prasad to everyone who participated in the retreats, filling their hearts with joy and gratitude. Local artists performed music and dance while Amma gave darshan, and she delighted in their dedicated efforts.

    The darshan sessions were extremely hectic, with Amma giving darshan to thousands throughout the day and night over the four days. The atmosphere was emotionally charged as people shared their joys, sorrows, and longings with Amma. She embraced all sentiments, guiding them to the shores of divine bliss.

    Billy Corgan, the famous musician and lead singer of the US band The Smashing Pumpkins, also came to receive Amma’s blessings.

    After the intense four-day program in Washington, Amma proceeded to Boston for her next event.
